Plot of the Deva Movie
He climbed the ranks in the police department by doing things the wrong way. They present him in the movie as a raw, beast-like character, a pure anti-hero who doesn’t care about good or bad, man or woman. If he gets agitated, he’ll take someone out, which is why the system needs him—he’ll do whatever it takes. The story turns when his police officer friend gets transferred to Mumbai. After taking out a big gangster, there’s a ceremony to honour him, but that’s when Dev’s friend gets killed. For Deva, his friendship is more important than his duty, and now he’s faced with a tough choice
He’s willing to go to any lengths to crack the case for his friend and find the murderer. But when Dev discovers who the real culprit is, he gets into an accident and loses his memory. Now, he’s a completely different person. Slowly, as he starts to piece himself back together, he approaches the case from a third-person perspective to solve it.

The big twist at the end is finding out who the real culprit is, and it’s a shocking payoff, which is quite bold for a movie, especially in Hindi cinema. And then you see who the director of this film is and where he’s from—he’s Malayali.”It totally makes sense how sharp it is and where the writing comes from, especially after the interval when the story flips completely.
The first half of the movie feels like it’s in that classic Bachchan style, with the ‘angry young man’ vibe pushing the plot forward. But then the second half turns into a detective thriller, and it completely turns your world upside down. You’re watching a totally different kind of story. They keep you hooked throughout the investigation, especially with Upendra Lima in his animal-like role—he’s super entertaining! Just hope he doesn’t get typecast, because he’s something to watch.
Performance of Shahid Kapoor in Deva Movie
When it comes to Shahid Kapoor’s performance, it’s really something! In the first half of the Deva movie, he breaks all the rules of morality and dives into this primal, taboo world of love. It’s like he completely detaches himself, shedding his skin as if it never mattered. No one’s really going to say that what he’s doing is good or that he’s a good character, but at least it looks pretty cool. I think he just has this vibe that makes him carry himself in such a badass way. Even a simple scene where he shoots someone turns him into a total badass, like ten times cooler.

Direction and Writing of Deva Movie
The writing of the Deva Movie is done in a really bad way, and on top of that, Shahid Kapoor’s performance is like the cherry on top. It’s super cool to watch, and it proves once again that it all comes down to character and personality. In the first half, the way Shahid Kapoor’s character is built up makes the first action scene so cool that you can tell this guy isn’t taking any nonsense—people are going to get hurt. You’re waiting to see this big mass appeal in its raw form, but then the story takes a different turn.
So, as you’re watching the Deva movie, you’re really getting into it and thinking about how it’s all going to wrap up. But then, when the end comes and you don’t get that payoff you were expecting, it can feel a bit disappointing. You know they’ve built up all this action, and you’re waiting for a big finale, but instead, it’s like, ‘Okay, fine, take it,’ which isn’t terrible, but still. While you’re watching, you kind of expect there to be this massive appeal, like, ‘What kind of epic ending are they going to give us?’
But then, when the Deva movie starts, they actually handle that mass appeal really well. By the end, you’re expecting a total bang, and their reveal is just something else.
It’s not like there’s some big reveal or anything. It was more like, ‘Oh damn, really?’ But at the start, you get this vibe that the guy is just chilling, and then they never really follow up on that. Overall, though, it was a gripping thriller. Those edgy characters always keep you on your toes. Roshan Andrews directed it well; you’re constantly left wondering who’s who. If they had thrown in a twist at the end, that would have been awesome.
Another Remake
When I checked Wikipedia and saw that it’s a Malayalam movie from 2013 called Mumbai Police. Mumbai Police is basically a remake of another movie. When I read the story, I noticed a lot of major similarities with other stories. So, it’s the same old plot, just a different setting. The allegations were spot on, and they’ve given us yet another remake.

The rest of the movie is okay; they could have done more but didn’t. They seemed to rely on their payoff, but it didn’t land as strong as they wanted it to at the end. Anyway, let me know if you’ve seen this movie and what you thought of it. And yeah, that’s all I had to say about it.
