The title teaser of Suriya’s upcoming movie Retro has been released, Suriya and Pooja Hegde are in the lead roles in this movie. It is a romantic action film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj; this movie will be released in the summer of 2025.
Before this, Suriya’s Kangua was released which was a super flop. Kangua failed to connect with the audience, So fans have a lot of expectations from this movie.

Suriya’s Gangster Avatar and Retro’s Journey So Far
Suriya appears in this movie as an action hero; after promising his wife, he leaves his life as a gangster. This film is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, and another movie written by him, Game Changer, is also coming in which Ram Charan appears as a lead actor, which will be released on 10 January 2025.
A glimpse of this film came 5 months ago on Suriya’s birthday in which he was seen with a gangster look, after seeing which his fans were very excited about this film and finally, after 5 months, the title of this film, which is retro and the teaser has been released.
The Kangua Disappointment
In November, Suriya’s Kangua film was released. Kangua movie was a total failure and flop at the box office till we didn’t understand what the makers were trying to show in the movie. Kangua was overconfident, and that’s what made it extremely bad. They had started it as an epic, but they wanted to show so much more at the same time. They wanted to make a modern power fantasy and also an ambitious, extravagant epic of the past and to portray such a generic story. But they didn’t succeed. Fans of Suriya were so disappointed in this movie that Suriya will have to prove himself through this movie( Retro ).
Suriya’s Legacy in Tamil Cinema
Suriya has established himself as a versatile actor, and he is a true icon of Tamil cinema; he has delivered some masterpiece movies in Tamil cinema and has done the role of a cop in the Singham trilogy, he also worked in 2 sci-fi movies, 7aum Arivu( 2011) and 24 ( 2016).
He appeared in a biographical drama film Soorarai Pottru( 2020) based on the life of the Deccan airline founder released on Amazon Prime Video for which he won the National Film Award for the best actor then in 2021 he played the role of a lawyer in Jai Bhim movie which was a social justice drama where he fought for human rights in the movie.
Suriya Made a cameo appearance as the supervillain Rolex in the film Vikram( 2022 ). This 6-minute cameo made the movie a masterpiece and attracted fans with his powerful role, and it is expected that a standalone movie( Rolex) will come in Lokesh Cinematic Universe in which Suriya will portray the main character of Rolex.
Suriya is a great actor who can play a variety of characters. People love watching him in movies like Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim, and they loved his special cameo role as Rolex in Vikram. Fans are very excited to see what he does next in Tamil movies!
