Akshay Kumar Starrer’s film Sky Force has been released in theatres today and this film has brought back the old Akshay Kumar we saw after Kesari in 2019, and it’s done it again in 2025. The topic of this film is all about good old patriotism. A real-life hero’s story rarely makes it to the screen without tearing your eye. But what sets Sky Force apart is how it dealt with all those calling it a copy of Ajay Devgan’s Bhuj or Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter.
Sky Force isn’t just about aerial battles, it also shows ground attacks, just like what was depicted in Bhuj. The strength of this film isn’t in the sky force surprise, it’s not just an action thriller—it’s a suspense thriller.

Plot Overview: A Story of Patriotism and Suspense
It has an incredible story that makes you think, something no one expected, and that’s where the film shines. The India vs. Pakistan angle is pretty old; we’ve seen it countless times. but they’ve managed to find something in that angle that no one has shown before. Flashback to 1965, when there was a war between India and Pakistan. India sneaks into Pakistan and takes out eight enemy aircraft right from their most expensive airbase. They’re flying high, but little do they know that on their way back to India, death is hot on their heels, moving at a crazy speed of 1000 km/h.

They’re in a special aircraft with technology the world has never seen before, and right now, a Pakistani fighter pilot is in control of that plane. But suddenly, out of nowhere, an Indian plane appears behind the Pakistani one, right there in the clouds! There were only eight fighters that took off from India, so where did this Nova come from all of a sudden? How is it even possible for a plane to just pop up in mid-air? Honestly, it might not sound that exciting when you hear it, but it’s wild!”
A Fresh Take on Patriotism: Maddock Films’ Unique Approach
The way they presented the film’s story like a suspense thriller blew everyone’s mind. The Maddock Films folks have a reputation, every time people go to watch their films, they end up seeing something fresh. And think about it— even in a story about India versus Pakistan, they managed to bring something new to the table. First off, don’t disrespect the Sky Force; saying ‘Why watch a film I’ve already seen?’ is just wrong.

They showcased a really important and new concept. The film showcases the story of a real-life hero, but the filmmakers have pulled the biggest trick on him by casting a guy in his role who isn’t an actor—he just came in as a star. I mean, as an audience, I didn’t see a second of acting; it was just a performance.
The Casting in Sky Force
When you see a cast actor in a movie, you might not even believe it—it’s just dishonest. After working for 20-30 years, Akshay Kumar is at a point where people see him as a star. But for someone to become a star just by doing a two-hour film? That’s not confidence; that’s overconfidence. Nepotism has been a long-standing issue, and Bollywood itself needs to figure out how to handle it.

Honestly, if there had been another serious actor in that role, the movie could have been a five-out-of-five-stars hit. In this film, Sharad Kelkar played a supporting role, and honestly, it made me feel bad watching him. What sin did he commit? They were asking why they didn’t get that role in the film.
Overhyping Sky Force: The Risk of Losing Audience Trust
And let me tell you, saying a movie is really good when it’s just okay can lose the audience’s trust. It’s a natural reaction for people to declare a film a masterpiece before it is even released. Just entertain the audience—don’t try to control them. There’s no need to drop names like ‘Airlift’—’Sky Force’ can sell itself just fine. But let the audience make their judgment. This PR hype and all the excessive promotion will just end up backfiring on Bollywood.
And Sky Force is going to be the one taking the hit. People are already blaming a lot of things, and honestly, no one’s going to believe me when say Akshay Kumar has done his career-best work or that we’ve found something new in India-Pakistan. The film should do well, just like Stree did, especially when the audience itself becomes its biggest promoter.
Sky Force: A Solid Film, But With Missed Opportunities
So, Sky Force is an awesome film that fits perfectly for January 26th. Credit to Akshay Kumar for his comeback, but the second half of the film was pretty unexpected and unprecedented with the casting choices. It sounded thrilling, but when you see it, it just doesn’t match up. We’d give it half a star off for the aerial action scenes—they looked pretty fake because other movies like ‘Sky Force’ have done it way better. If you’re looking to see Akshay Kumar back in action and want a powerful, emotional story, you might want to check that out instead.
